International Women’s Day 2022 with Dr. Sinead Kane.

To celebrate International Women’s Day this year, KSN KSN, KSNPM, and KSN Energy welcomed keynote speaker Dr. Sinead Kane, who shared her experiences with Breaking the Bias, the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day.

Sinead is a motivational speaker who speaks about resilience, mindset, and teamwork. She holds two PhDs, is a licensed attorney, and gives talks on disability law and policy. Sinead is also an ultra-distance athlete who has represented Ireland and holds two Guinness World Records, including the longest distance covered by a female on a treadmill in 12 hours in 2018.

Sinead was also the first Irish woman to compete in the World Marathon Challenge, which entails running seven marathons in seven days across seven continents. Sinead is legally blind because she only has 5 percent vision.

Sinead discussed the difficulties she has encountered throughout her career. She has been able to overcome these challenges by reminding herself of her core values, which include courage and resilience. Resilience is a skill that can be learned, practiced, and improved. Our thoughts, actions, and behaviors all contribute to our resilience. Personal qualities and external resources are the keys to successful resilience. Sinead’s courage was her second core value. A key takeaway for our staff was having the courage to ask for assistance.

As part of the day, KSN hosted a coffee morning with our very own branded cupcakes for our employees to enjoy while catching up with old and new colleagues.

We all want to work in an environment that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. The impact of International Women’s Day is due to collective action and shared ownership in achieving gender parity.

“Breaking the Bias,” this year’s theme, is about working toward a world free of stereotypes and discrimination. For KSN, KSNPM, and KSN Energy, creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment is a top priority. As we work to make a difference for women all over the world, we will continue to create an equal and diverse environment for all of our employees.
