Chris Grady – Celebrating 25 years with KSN
2022 marks a major milestone for one of our Board of Directors. KSN would like to congratulate Chris Grady who celebrates 25 years in KSN this year. We caught up with Chris who shared some of his career highlights.
What have been your top career highlights over the last 25 years?
I’ve had so many over the last 25 years. I was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2004, 18 years ago and 7 years after joining KSN.
Another highlight would be setting up the KSN Energy department alongside fellow Board Director Michael Slevin in 2010. We succeeded in the bid for SEAI Managing Agent contract during difficult recession times. We have successfully gone on to maintain this appointment for the last 10 years and hopefully we can secure for the years to come.
I will never forget the birth of my son in May 2003! This coincided with the day I sat and passed my SCSI APC to become chartered. How could I ever forget the journey from the Coombe to the Montrose and back to the Coombe! Another highlight would be moving to our purpose built new office fitout in 2020 in Clonskeagh.
I have been involved in the successful completion of some large mixed use and land mark projects over many years. These include the Kilmainham Square development (Old Rowntree Nestlé Chocolate factory), Central Park PRS and UCD Sutherland School of Law to mention a few. My final highlight would be top scorer in 1998 Company Astro league. I had to throw that one in!
What’s your favourite memory of the last 25 years?
I would say setting up KSN Energy with Michael Slevin at a time when the construction industry was experiencing severe difficulties. KSN Construction Consultants came out of recession in a very healthy position; wiser, more experienced and well placed for us to kick on for the next 10 + years. KSN Energy started with projects like carrying out energy retrofit surveys on the Aran Islands for ESB. On one of those trips, we stopped out to see the Plassy Shipwreck from Fr. Ted!
What does the future hold for KSN?
KSN Construction Consultants is a wholly Irish owned family orientated construction consultancy practice with a young dynamic workforce, so our future has no bounds. We are to the forefront in our profession with regard to the industry generally but in particular within the sustainability sector. I anticipate this area will have a huge part to play in our future especially in the current climate.
I would like to take this opportunity to offer my gratitude to the three founding directors now retired, as well as the current board of directors and associates but in particular the staff of KSN over the years. I am so thankful for the trust and support given to me and my family as well as the friendships made over the last 25 years.
